To me, lighting is the most unconstrained area of furniture design. You can look at it purely functional or turn it into an artistic excercise. In my work you will see a bit of both. To me a light is more of a sculpture than a piece of furniture - I put a form of dramaturgy into my objects, to have them tell their own story instead of me doing it form them.
I see myself somewhere between a designer, sculptor and puppeteer. Mechanical movement is a signature element of my work. I want to express my love for mechanical principles by putting an emphasis on the way things work, move or behave. Designing a working principle, creating mechanical joints or orchestrating balancing acts.
I am convinced that making people understand a functioning process leads to a conscious interaction with an object.
